March 29th - 5 new initiates
On March 29th, 5 young men took the oaths and became Brothers in the Chi Phi fraternity under the watchful eye of the Iota Colony members and alumni Brothers Dan Dozer, Bob Crane, and Phil Hart.
There may be another initiation of 11 or 12 new brothers before the end of the current semester.
Your support of the Iota Colony has been critical in our Chapter's return to the OSU campus. Please continue in  your support of our younger brothers and the alumni association that supports them.
Thank You,
Turk (Iota '67)

March Initiation for Iota Colony

Iota of Chi Phi Alumni Association

    June 22, 2020

Dear alumni brothers of Chi Phi,

I write to you today on behalf of the Iota of Chi Phi Alumni Association Board of Trustees to share information that may be of interest to you. Due to the current pandemic, the board held a zoom meeting recently and decided to cancel the 2020 alumni association annual meeting. Current board members and officers have agreed to continue to serve until our next annual meeting. The current group of alumni chapter advisors have also agreed to continue to serve. Peter Mougey I’17 was elected to the board to fill an open position and has agreed to serve as the official university chapter advisor.

The Iota Chapter has been charged by the university with recent infractions of the hazing and alcohol rules. As the chapter is currently under probation by OSU for an alcohol violation (serving a minor a drink in 2018), our expectation is that the chapter will be suspended for some period of time to be determined. The national director of our fraternity has been in direct communication with OSU in this regard. No formal hearing has been held yet due to the pandemic.

The board has also voted to move the date of the next alumni reunion from 2023 to 2024 as this will be the 200th anniversary of Chi Phi. More information on this is to come.

Our Secretary and Treasurer reported that the new alumni website is near completion and should be up and running soon.

As always, we appreciate your continuing financial support of the Iota Chapter through your dues to the Iota of Chi Phi Alumni Association or you tax-deductible contributions to the Iota CEF (Chapter Excellence Fund) through the Chi Phi Educational Trust (or both!!).

    Fraternally,

    Curt Bacon, I’73

The Iota Chapter is NOT one of the fraternities being investigated, but is among all fraternities being restricted at the OSU campus.

Iota Colony status 03/2014

(as I understand it – Dick “Turk” Baker I’67)

The Iota Colony is strong and successful. They number 17 actives and 16 uninitiated members (pledged this semester). Iota Colony continues to show strong leadership and campus involvement through normal leadership changes.

The Colony expects to occupy a rooming-house on Summit St near 15th Ave in the fall of 2014 with a full compliment of 17 brothers. Occupancy of 2000 Indianola Ave may happen in 2015.

The Iota Colony will receive its charter (again) when they have 50 or 60 members.

The Iota of Chi Phi Alumni Association continues to support the colony as they achieve chapter status. We have purchased robes and candles, refurbished and replaced paraphernalia, acted as advisors to officers, participated in their pledging and initiating ceremonies, and just been there for young men who don’t understand us any more than we understand them.

We are Brothers. Thank you Iota alumni for your continued support,

Turk
